This is a volume-licensing programme designed to meet the needs of eligible education institutions with more than 500 desktops.  It helps reduce your total cost of software ownership and makes it easier to acquire licenses for Microsoft products on an ongoing basis.

Microsoft Education Select License gives you instant access to Microsoft software.  Under your agreement you can instantly reproduce and use these products, giving you access to the software without the requirement of purchasing additional licenses and media.  You also remove the need to store boxes of software and standalone licenses.

How it works

Your volume discount is based on what you predict you will buy over the two years. Once this has been determined, the pricing will apply to your entire organisation.

Products are split into three main pools:

• Applications
• Systems
• Servers

Each product is given a point value. You then simply add together the total number of points for the products required.  The minimum requirement is 1,000 points per pool.  If you need manuals and documents, you can purchase these separately.

• Fee-based telephone support
• Microsoft Download service, providing access to software updates, programming aids, device drivers and much more
• Microsoft Internet sites relevant to other products.
